Benni McCarthy Hails Kenya AfterDraw Against Estonia

Kenya national team coach Benni McCarthy has expressed satisfaction with his team’s progress despite their draw against Estonia in an international friendly match, Platinum News is reporting

The Kenya national football team on Saturday played to a 1–1 draw against the European side, the Estonia national football team before eventually losing in a penalty shootout after regulation time.

Speaking after the match, McCarthy highlighted the quality of the opposition, noting that Estonia regularly plays strong European teams.

According to him, Estonia have played against top sides like the Italian national football team and Erling Haaland’s Norwegian national football team, stressing that Kenya is still developing but moving in the right direction.

McCarthy described Kenya as a smaller football nation compared to European teams but said the focus is on steady development and building a competitive team ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The coach emphasised that the goal is to ensure the team is fully prepared and competitive by the time the 2027 AFCON arrives, adding that performances like the draw against Estonia show signs of improvement and growth in the squad.
