Edo State mixed martial arts fighter, Busayo Idowu Busayo Khadijat have expressed her desire to clitch gold medal at the on going Global association for mixed martial arts national open Championship going in Benin City, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
Busayo who spoke with Journalists after edging Idara Monday of Akwa Ibom State by unanimous decision in the -56.7kg weight Category Semi final on Friday, was in a joyful mood and stated that she went into the semi final bout with the hope of doing best, and that she was happy to have defeated her opponent who she said was very skilled, talented and strong.
“I feel good after tonight’s victory, nobody wants to lose, so I’m happy for the victory. I went into the fight with the hope of doing my best and I’m happy I did.”
On the final match against Miracle Andrews of Heroes Club, Idowu maintained her optimism, highlighting she had previously defeated her would-be opponent in two occasions, though both victories were in Kickboxing which is slightly different from mixed martial arts.
“I’ve met Miracle twice before in kickboxing and her defeated her. Defeating her twice in kickboxing doesn’t guarantee victory on this particular occasion, because I recognize the difference in the both sports. She is also a very good opponent and good in MMA, but I’ll be going into the game with maximum hope of winning.”
The final between Idowu Busayo and Miracle Andrews will hold at the multi-purpose indoor sports hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium on Saturday morning.
