Matchday five of the ongoing 2024 edition of the Youth Premier league kicked off on Friday, 15th of March at the Eresoyen primary school Oluku where Red Stars FC hosted Genesis, with the visiting team claiming a 2-1 win, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
Red Stars FC fought hard to hold their own at home, but Genesis FC had Iguma Akugbe and Agbede Destiny to thank for scoring in the 34th and 63rd minute of the game, as they went home with maximum points.
Iyoba Girls College football field hosted the next game on Saturday as Rangers FC who were thirsty for victory visited Worshippers FC. Worshippers FC looked depleted with several key players unavailable for the all-important matchup. They found themselves behind by two goals unexplainably after the first 13 minutes of the game courtesy of goals from Rangers’ Famous Akabue and Ifeoluwa.
Worshippers FC got levelled in the game with both goals coming off the boot of Monday Ayo. Ayo could have probably should have found the winner before full-time, but his several efforts didn’t pay off. Fulltime score was 2-2.
The last game of the week was at the Edo Boys High School mini stadium where Dynamic FC played host to Shavik FA. The home team defeated their Visitors 3 goals to 1. Dynamic FC got two of their goals from Kevin God’stime while one was their own goal from the goalkeeper of their opponents. Victor Eichie however pulled a consolation for Shavik FA with a stunning header.
