The new Chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Sports was, for the first time, made known to sports enthusiasts in Nigeria in October 2024.
His revelation came after he charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to secure a maximum of six points in their AFCON Double Header Qualifiers against Libya.
Rarely known by sports enthusiasts in the country, much is expected from the People’s Democratic Party legislator to continue from where former Committee chairman on sports, late Hon. Adams Ekene left it. He is also expected to raise the standard of sports in the country, through his committee.

Kabiru Amadu is a Nigerian politician at the House of Representatives level. Kabiru Amadu currently serves as the Federal Representative representing the Gusau/Tsafe constituency in the 10th National Assembly.
Hon. Kabiru is a lawmaker representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency of Zamfara State.
Hon. Kabiru Amadu was one of the ten legislators with the highest number of stagnated Bills (5 Bills that could not go beyond the first reading since introduction) in the 9th House of Representatives.
Born on August 23, 1983. He attended T/wada Model primary school from 1990 to 1996, after which he proceeded to Sambo Secondary School, Gusau, for his secondary education between 1996 to 2001.
His business acumen from his primary school days, which saw him involved in petty trades till his secondary school days, was the inspiration for him to venture into full-blown business, but he went to Usumanu Danfodio University, Sokoto for his bachelor’s degree, where he baggage second class upper division honour in Mathematics. Not stopping at the first-degree level, Mai Palace pushed further in his education and added another feather to his wings with a postgraduate program at the National Teachers Institute. He went into teaching after his PGD in a primary school, concurrently running his business to expand. After learning through the curves, Hon. Kabiru got employed in a higher level of teaching where he taught as a lecturer at the Federal College of Education Technical, Gusau, Zamfara state.
As part of his philanthropic gesture and love for sports, Mai Palace operated a football viewing centre in Gusau for 12 years.
Political journey
Since his teenage years, Honourable Kabiru Amadu’s leadership traits were unrivalled. Serving as a class monitor and senior prefect in his primary school days. At the secondary level, he served as a class monitor from Junior Secondary School class 1 to 2 and became a prefect in Senior Secondary School class 2, where he worked meticulously. His work rate and academic performance, mixed with the leadership traits that drew people to him, gave him a bigger assignment in his SS3 days as the Senior Prefect of Sambo Secondary School, Gusau.
The young man of many portfolios ventured fully into politics in his university days at UDUS. He was elected into office as Student Union President where he served for almost two years.
Mai Palace has also worked for multiple Non-Governmental Organizations, local and international and has good records while serving in many capacities for the NGOs.
His records as a philanthropist and jolly good fellow spoke for him when his people, in 2019, gave him their mandate as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a seat in the House of Representatives which he won with a wide margin against his opponents.
His constituents, having seen his good work, grew more fond of him and reelected him under the PDP flag. Since his election into the green chamber, Mai Palace has served in various committees and moved well-meaning motions on the floor. He was a member of the Committee of Youths and Support in the 9th Assembly. He served as the deputy chairman of the House Committee on Public Service Matters for 8 months. Again, he served as deputy chairman of the Committee on Science Research Institute for another 5 months.
In 2020, about 148 students who hail from Gusau and Tsafe Federal Constituency in Zamfara State appealed to their lawmaker, Kabiru Amadu, to fulfil his promise to pay their tuition at Sokoto State University, according to Sahara reporters.
The students said they were on the brink of expulsion because of their inability to pay the fees.
Mai Palace promised to offset the tuition of students from his constituencies to alleviate their plight, after public outcry and complaints.
In 2023, Hon. Amadu moved a motion to investigate alleged abuse, breach, and violation of the Public Procurement Act in the engagement of consultants for pre-shipment inspection and monitoring of crude oil and gas exports from Nigeria which led to the loss of $160 million.
In July 2023, Mai Palace registered his unwavering support to Police operations in Zamfara State by donating two solar Batteries VT200 with a capacity of 12V/200AH for the Command’s communication unit, valued at over N360,000.00 to replace the old ones.
On October 3rd, 2024, the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudden Abbas, appointed Hon. Kabiru Amadu as the new chairman of the House Committee on Sports after the demise of the former chairman, Hon. Ekene Adams.
