Kebbi BSC, Nigeria’s representative at the Beach Soccer World Winners Cup, made history books on Thursday with a 15-1 victory over Slovakia’s Ba Vion, securing their first-ever qualification for the round of 16 at the beach soccer tournament, Platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
The journey for Kebbi BSC in Italy started on a somewhat somber note, as they faced initial setbacks, suffering defeats in their opening two games against Copenhagen BSC from Denmark and ASD Napoli of Italy. However, the team showed tremendous resilience to bounce back, and their mettle shone brightly against Ba Vion.
The Nigerian champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Filipov and Ekene Obi netting two goals in the first period, effectively opening the floodgates of scoring.
In the second period, Kebbi BSC’s performance reached new heights as they found the net six times. Filipov was in scintillating form, claiming a hat trick, while Hassan Muhammed notched two goals, and Usman Mohammed joined the scoring frenzy.
The team concluded their victory with seven goals in the third period, solidifying their position as the third-best team in Group A and earning themselves a spot in the Round of 16.
With this historic qualification secured, the Nigeria Beach Soccer team is now set to face Spain’s Mazarron BSC in the round of 16 clash scheduled for Friday.
