As September 11 beckons the kick-off of the Women’s Super League, Arsenal football club women are in high momentum to start their 2022/2023 campaign on a high as they intensify to face Manchester City at the academy stadium.
Arsenal Women finished with seven more WSL points in 2021-22 compared to 2020-21. Last season, they took the title race to the final day and finished one point behind Chelsea. Five new players in the summer of 2021, three new players in January 2022 and a new coach appointed in June 2021 in the shape of Jonas Eidevall all joined the club which made them get a good finish last season.
The record in the big games improved drastically in the WSL and that brought about an improvement in points racking
The Gunners finished in second place in the WSL championship with one point behind the winners Chelsea and will be daring to be better as they made a couple of new signings in the goalkeeping and attack part to strengthen the squad. American goalkeeper, Kaylan Marchese was signed from HB Koge and is seen to have a wealth of experience from her former clubs which will be brought into the Arsenal squad. Lina Hurting a Swedish forward from Juventus was signed and will be able to bring quality to the attack of the team. With a few signings and coach Jonas’s philosophy and impact on the team, the Arsenal women will be able to push to a much better standard to finish at the top of the league.
Arsenal women will play their first home game on September 16th at Meadows park against Brighton and Hove Albion before getting in touch with Tottenham at the Emirates stadium for the first North London derby of the season on the 24th of September.
So much is expected from them this season and their hopes of restoring their lost years of dominance are up to the zenith.
Prediction: Arsenal will push for the league again, but with another close margin, Hayes-led girls, Chelsea has enough to keep winning the league, at least for one more season.
