Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the leadership of Benin Club for his immense contributions towards the development of the club.
The award presentation took at the office of the deputy governor Friday morning when the leadership of the club paid the deputy governor a courtesy visit.
Receiving the Award from the foremost club, the Deputy Governor said Benin Club was a non-political and non-profit making recreation organization which admits credible members of the society with impeccable character and who must have contributed to the development of their communities, state or country.
He extolled the exceptional qualities of the Club’s President, affirming that he has excelled in different areas of human endeavour.
“I appreciate the Benin Club and its President for this Award. This is coming from one of the best and most notable clubs in Nigeria in terms of social activities and quality programmes”.
“As President, you have redefined and re-enacted the club, especially the golf course based on your exceptional leadership qualities”.
“Thank you the Authentic Able President of the Benin Club”, Shaibu added.
Earlier, the President of Benin Club, Pharm. Fred Iboi commended the Deputy Governor for being a committed and dedicated leader who has contributed so much to the development of the club.
The club, founded in 1931 was formerly called the European Club, however, the name was changed to Benin Club 1931 in 1964.
