Moses Adukwu is enjoying a dream start to life as Edo Queen’s manager with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Lagos-based Royaltoms at the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament pre-season in Benin.
Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) premiership side, Edo Queens put up a fine performance on Thursday evening to thrash NWFL Championship side Royaltoms in their first match at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
The Obaseki Girls as they are fondly called ran riot against an extremely unfamiliar Royaltoms with Eunice Godwin’s tap-in, Joy Jerry’s long-range shot, and Emem Essien’s 40 yards screamer secured an unassailable three-goal lead at the break.
The second half rained goals in favour of only one side; Edo Queens. Glory Osaghae lobbed shot, Fajobi Yetunde’s low shot, and another goalmouth scramble led to Eunice Godwin’s brace, yet again, a goalmouth scramble led to the seventh of the night. For the icing on the cake, Fajobi Yetunde scored her brace under the floodlights in Benin.
When all thought it was over, Fajobi Yetunde netted her hat-trick from the spot taking the goal tally to nine.
The match is Moses Adukwu’s first touchline game in charge for Edo Queen’s manager who joined the Samuel Ogbemudia club in August.
