BREAKING: NPFL rules out Beyond Limits, admits Heartland FC

Ikenne-based team Beyond Limits will not participate in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, the league’s board announced on Tuesday morning, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

In a statement on the league’s website, it was ruled that Beyond Limits Football Academy will not participate due to a breach of ownership rules.

The NPFL has determined that the dual ownership of Beyond Limits Football Academy and Remo Stars—a club currently competing in the NPFL—violates Rule B11.4 of the NPFL Framework and Rules. This regulation prohibits a single entity from owning multiple clubs within the league to maintain competitive fairness and integrity.

As a result, the slot originally allocated to Beyond Limits Football Academy has been vacated and awarded to Heartland FC. The decision adheres to Rule A5.2, which outlines criteria for club participation, and Heartland FC was the sole relegated team to formally express interest in the available position.

Prior until today, there have been concerns raised by Nigeria football lovers over Beyond Limits and Remo Stars widely believed to be owned by a single entity headed by Kunle Soname. Different rebuttal has been made as many reported that both clubs operates under domestic entities. However, the latest decision lays rest to the concerns.

This decision comes after the commencement of the league last weekend, where Defending Champions, Enugu Rangers, were held to score less draw by newly promoted and FA Cup champions, El Kanemi Warriors.

The NPFL also emphasized that this move does not involve any slot-buying transactions, which are explicitly banned under league regulations.
