Edo FA Cup: Brave Heart FC Wins Third Place as Bendel Insurance Outshines BJ FC

The women’s third-place match of the Edo State FA Cup took centre stage at the Crescent Sports Centre, with Brave Heart FC facing Benin Red Soil to clinch the loser’s final bragging right.

Both teams, still reeling from their semi-final losses, were determined to claim the third-place trophy.


The match began with high intensity, as both teams created scoring opportunities. Brave Heart FC’s efforts were thwarted by the impressive goalkeeping of Benin Red Soil’s keeper, who made crucial saves to deny them. Despite their best efforts, Brave Heart FC’s goal was ruled offside, ending the first half goalless.

The second half saw Benin Red Soil emerge with renewed energy dominating possession and eventually breaking the deadlock with a well-taken shot from Ugbo Omosefe. This goal sparked Brave Heart FC into action as Esimau Oluchi scored from a beautifully taken free kick to equalize.

Brave Heart FC sealed their victory when Zuberu Ramat capitalized on the goalkeeper’s error, securing a 2-1 win to claim the third-place trophy.

Godwin Amarachi of Benin Red Soil was named woman of the match, saying her success was due to preparation.


The semi-finals of the men’s category ignited a fiery clash between big rivals Bendel Insurance and BJ FC. From the opening whistle, both teams went in with intensity, each determined to claim victory.


Bendel Insurance drew first blood through James Orosanye’s decisive strike. BJ FC, fueled by determination, surged forward with urgency but struggled to convert their chances into goals.

The second half exposed BJ FC’s flaws as Bendel Insurance seized control. Zaidu delivered the final blow, securing a 2-0 triumph for Bendel Insurance and propelling them into the finals.

The victory marked a thrilling conclusion to the semi-finals, setting the stage for an electrifying finale.
