…over loss of personnel in Akoko-Edo
A high-powered delegation of the Edo State Government, led by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has paid a condolence visit to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Akoko Edo Local Government Area, over the loss of three mobile policemen at a checkpoint, along the Igarra-Auchi Road.
While commiserating with the Police Force, Shaibu lamented that the officers lost their lives while carrying out their statutory responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens.
He assured that Edo State Government will not relent in its support for the State Police Command at all times, adding that the officers will not die in vain.
The Deputy Governor promised that the State Government will strengthen the security arrangements in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area for optimal performance, given its strategic location bordering Kogi and Ondo States.
Briefing the Deputy Governor, Igarra Area Commander, ACP Bello Ahmed, stated that the police officers were ambushed and killed while trying to settle down for duty.
According to him, four AK 47 riffles were recovered from the hoodlums who carried out the dastardly act.
Recall that on 6th April 2023, three mobile policemen from Mopol 60 were killed at a checkpoint along the Igarra-Auchi Road, while one was seriously injured.
In a related development, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Mrs. Stella Igenegbai in Afashio-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The bereaved husband, Mr. John Igenegbai, is a retired Director with the Central Bank of Nigeria, while the deceased is survived by two children.
In a similar vein, the Deputy Governor also made a stopover at Iyukhu, Etsako West Local Government Area, over the demise of the Village Head, Late Chief Zekeri Abubakar, who passed on 6th April 2023 at the age of 67.
Also, the State Deputy Governor, visited the family of the late Usman Agbegi, a PDP leader in Jattu-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
