Fortress Ladies FC forward Favour Enodumwenben, a student of Idia College, has been named tournament best player of the female category at the 2024 Edo People’s Forum Secondary School football tournament.
The tournament, which came to a climax on Friday evening at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, saw Idia College Queens defeat St Angela Girls Grammar School, Jattu, 3-0.
Favour, who is fondly called Burna Boy, stole the show each time she was on the field for her school team, dribbling and dazzling her opponents with her skills. Despite featuring in only two matches, the attacker produced 1 goal and 4 assists in the tournament.
Idia College Queens’ victory against St. Angela girls saw them set a new record in the tournament, winning the tournament three times in a row since iitsinception.
Meanwhile, in the male Category, Edokpolor Grammar School set a new record in Secondary school football in the state, becoming the first school to win the Edo State Governors Cup and the Edo People’s Forum Secondary School football Tournament in the same year.
The New Benin based school defeated St David’s college, Evbonek,a 3-2 in an entertaining final game.
