President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) Omonlei Yakubu Imadu has arrived in Hamburg, Germany, for the 62nd annual World Boxing Council Convention. The historic event will take place from December 8th to 14th at the prestigious Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg.

On the agenda for this year’s convention are key presentations, a medical seminar, world rankings open sessions, mandatory fights, seminars for ring officials, judges and referees, a WBC Cares visit and workshops.

Imadu, who is the only Nigerian boxing promoter/administrator attending this year’s event, told Germany’s number 1 sports media outlet “bild.de” that the convention is imperative to him as a leading boxing Promoter in Africa.

“The Yucateco boxing promotions, which I happen to be the founder, is currently engaged in various boxing developmental projects across Africa, and key conversations from the WBC Convention will further aid our insights and approach to our programs going forward, so it feels good to be here”.

Omonlei is the Chief Executive Officer of Yucateco Boxing Promotions and the initiator of the Yucateco Boxing League, which is the only boxing league for Olympics grade pugilists in America. The BPAN boss is also the brain behind the widely successful Yucateco Pan-African boxing championship.
