Minister of Sports Meets With Potential Super Eagles Coach In France

As the hunt continues for a substantive coach for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has been reported to be meeting with the potential Super Eagles’ next manager in France, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

According to France-based Nigerian journalist Ojora Babatunde, the Minister is in France to meet with the agent of Mali national team coach, Éric Sékou Chelle.

According to OJB as popularly known, if everything goes well, the 46-year-old gaffer will be announced as the head coach of Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles have been without a coach since the former coach, Finidi George, tendered his resignation letter after two drawn 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

The Super Eagles will begin their 2025 AFCON qualifying journey on September 7 when they take on Cheetahs of Benin Republic, led by former manager, Genort Rohr, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Éric Chelle, who began his managerial career in 2014, was appointed head coach of US Boulogne in May 2021 but was dismissed by the same side after just seven months in charge, picking only three points in ten games.

In 2022, Chelle was appointed manager of the Eagles of Mali. He was dismissed on 13 June 2024.
