NFF President Urges NPFL Board to Prioritise Club Licensing Requirements

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau on Wednesday, inaugurated the new board of the NPFL, Nigeria’s elite domestic football league urging the board to prioritise club licensing requirements.


During the inauguration, he emphasized the importance of enforcing Club Licensing requirements and urged the board to take this matter seriously.


Gusau that stated Club Licensing is crucial for football development and insisted that the new board must set a target that all clubs must meet before participating in the league. He also suggested setting percentage compliance on Club Licensing requirements for each club to measure adherence each season.


The NPFL board members in attendance included Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye (Chairman), Mallam Mohammed Nasiru Sa’idu (Member), Barr. Poubeni Ogun (Member), Mr. Daniel Amokachi (Member), Dr. Okey Kpalukwu (Member), Mallam Suleiman Umar (Member), and Mr. Dominic Iorfa (Member). The board will serve a two-year tenure.


The event also saw the presence of other notable figures, including His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shaibu (Deputy Governor, Edo State), and various NFF officials like the Deputy General Secretary, Director of Finance & Admin, and Technical Director, among others. The new NPFL board joins the Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League, and Nigeria Nation-Wide League One, which were inaugurated the previous week.


The NFF President’s call for prioritizing Club Licensing aims to enhance the league’s standards and ensure clubs meet specific criteria to improve the overall quality of Nigerian football.
