Nigeria–Morocco Commerce & Development Forum Pumps Super Eagles’ AFCON Campaign

The Nigeria–Morocco Commerce and Development Forum has thrown its full weight behind the Super Eagles at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, pledging logistics, unity and unwavering fan support to propel the team to glory, platinumnewng.com is reporting

Speaking to Nigerian journalists in Fès on Saturday, January 3, Vice President of the Forum, Dr Mohammed Tijani Sabiu, a Nigerian-Moroccan, said the organisation decided to actively support the Super Eagles from the start of the competition as a national responsibility rather than an act of charity.

Dr Sabiu noted that the Forum, which is presided over by the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Jibrin Barau, is committed to mobilising Nigerians both in Morocco and at home to stand firmly behind the national team.

“We are here to seek continued support from Nigerian fans in Morocco and Nigeria for the Super Eagles,” he said.

Founded in 2018, the Nigeria–Morocco Commerce and Development Forum is a non-governmental organisation that facilitates business transactions, cultural exchanges and development initiatives between Nigeria and Morocco. The Forum enjoys the support of notable Nigerians, including the Deputy Senate President and Mr Seyi Tinubu, son of the President of Nigeria.

Since the commencement of AFCON, the Forum has already provided accommodation and transportation logistics for Nigerian supporters in Morocco. It has also arranged free buses for fans in Rabat and Casablanca to and from Super Eagles match centres, while liaising with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to convey supporters from the airport to Fès and from Fès to Marrakech ahead of key fixtures.

In addition, a special bus has been provided exclusively for journalists, conveying them from Fès to Marrakech on January 10.

Dr Sabiu appealed to Nigerian icons, celebrities, top personalities and government officials to further support the initiative, stressing that when Nigerians are well taken care of, they show up in full force and stand out positively.

“Our benefit is to unite our fans and take care of them. When Nigerians are taken good care of, they stand out right, and it is our duty to take good care of them,” he stated.

Learning from past tournaments, including the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, the Forum observed that Nigerians often rally only when success is imminent. This time, however, the body is intentionally fostering unity among Nigerians regardless of tribe or religious affiliation, ensuring consistent support for the Super Eagles throughout the tournament.

As part of its fan engagement plans, the Forum, led operationally by DJ Nani, will host after-parties for Nigerians on January 5 in Fès and January 10 in Marrakech, with meals, drinks and entertainment fully catered for.

Dr Sabiu expressed confidence that strong fan presence and moral support would inspire the players to perform better, calling on all Nigerians in Morocco to come out en masse for the national team.

Also present at the press briefing were Henry Arinze, Ridwan Rajim, Amarachi Apako, Ambassador Raymond Kelvin, and DJ Nani, all lending their voices to the call for unity and passionate support for the Super Eagles as they chase continental success in Morocco.
