Two Nigerian boxers and other team officials attending the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in the early hours of Monday touched down at the host city, Riyadh, ahead of the event, platinumnewsng.com is reporting

According to a press release by the Director of Communication of the Nigerian Boxing Federation, Matthew Okugbe, the contingent led by coach Oyeleye Abayomi has Raheem Ridwan (65kg) Welterweight and Adeshina Zainab (51kg) Flyweight

The boxers in preparation for the 6th edition of the event, had a three-week intensive training camp in Abuja, the nation’s capital, before departing for Riyadh on Sunday.

This year’s edition of the Games will run from November 7th to 21st in Riyadh. The boxing event will commence on Thursday the 5th of November.

The Vice President of the Nigerian Boxing Federation, Hon. Omonlei Imadu, who visited the boxers in camp days before they departed for Riyadh, said the Federation is hopeful of a good outing based on the readiness of the team.

The Games will engage athletes from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member countries in a variety of sports, with 21 sports and 2 para-sports selected for this year’s Games. This marks the second time Saudi Arabia is hosting, having previously hosted the first edition in 2005.
