After the match day 10 Nigeria Premier Football League encounter in Katsina where Bayelsa United managed a 1-1 draw against the host, assistant coach of the Prosperity Boys, Meremu Okara believes his side should have gotten maximum points, platinumnewsmg.com is reporting.
According to the assistant coach, lack of chance conversion and a bit of playing deep to avoid a defeat was the reason they did not get the win.
“We played very well. We are better. If we had taken our chances early in the first half, we could have scored. Unfortunately, we did not take them” Okara said during the post match presser.
“From defence to attack we played very well. Katsina United were very determined, they fought hard but overall it is a good game, we deserve to have won.”
“We are playing away, we wanted to come from behind to keep the ball, playing deep and attacking on the counter. It almost paid off but we did not take our chances.” He added.
Bayelsa United displayed a spirited performance at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium. Tekena Garando gave the visitors the lead, in the 39th minute with a brilliant finish inside the box. Bello Lukman however, levelled for the Changi Boys in the 61st minute as both sides shared the spoils.
Bayelsa United at the moment needs every points that they can get, if they are to leave their current 19th position after amassing 9 points so far from 10 games played.
With match day 11 up next, the Prosperity Boys need to conjure up something to help put the team on a upward trajectory in the league standing.
