Teaming up with Sunday Anyawu, Abdullahi had a debut to remember, contributing with an assist and helping maintain a clean sheet in matchday 24 of the Nigeria Premier Football League. After a challenging game against Plateau United, which resulted in a 2-0 defeat, Hussaini showed resilience by delivering a strong performance in defense for the Benin Arsenal when it mattered.
The Feelings
In a post-match Hussaini speaking with Jokanola Bolaji of Platinum News, expressed his happiness in getting his home debut at the Ogbemudia Stadium.
“I was so happy to get my chance after 23 matches. I was the happiest after the match. My assist was crucial to the victory and I hope to continue with this form for Insurance,” he said.
He also went ahead to thank the fans for their support despite Insurance’s poor run before Friday’s victory.
“Thanks to the fans for their support, without them we can not do much. Despite losing two games away from home, they came out to support us. Inshallah, when we go to Akwa, we will continue to make the fans happy,” Hussaini reassured the fans.
Hussaini signed for Insurance in the 2022/23 with one appearance as a substitute away to Nasarawa United that season. This season, he featured for the Benin Arsenal away from home against ASO Chlef in the CAF Confederations Cup. He mad his debut this season, when he replaced Joel Djong as a substitute against Plateau United. He finally got his home debut against Gombe United.
