NPFL25: Goal Galore as Rivers go top, Enyimba, Remo, Rangers drop points

It was festival of goals on match day seven of the Nigeria Premier Football League 2024/35 season, as Rivers United usurp Remo Stars to go top of the log after a their home victory over Shooting Stars.

Goals were witnessed across all match venues on match day seven with a total of 31 goals recorded.

Rivers United currently sits top of the table after securing a victory at home while Remo Stars lost away from home to Plateau United.

Lobi Stars 2:2 El-Kanemi Warriors

Daniel Amokachi led side, Lobi Stars failed to get a win at home after Ossy Martins’ brace gave them a two goal lead in the second half. Goals from Ibrahim Mustapha 57′ and Mukhtar Mohammed 86′, ensured that both sides share the spoils.

Enugu Rangers 3:4 Kano Pillars

It was a poor start for the Defending champions at home as they were four goals behind at halftime. Ahmed Musa who has been enjoying his return to the NPFL made it four before the break. The Antelopes began to fly in the second half with a brace from Isaac Saviour 46′, 59 and Silas Nenrot 90th minute strike. It was not enough for the Antelopes, as the Sai Masu Gida boys went away with maximum points.

Nasarawa United 3:0 Abia Warriors

It was seamless victory for the home side as they bagged three points and three goals. Anas Yusuf hat trick gave the Nasarawa based side maximum points and a point above their opponent on the log.

Enyimba 1:1 Niger Tornadoes

The People’s Elephant failed to go top of the table on Wednesday after coming from behind to secure a point at the Enyimba Stadium. Godstime Joseph put the home side in front in the 42nd minute but a 76th minute goal from Chinedu Ufere ensured that both teams share the spoils.

Kwara United 3:0 Sunshine Stars

Another seamless victory was witnessed at Ilorin as the home side bagged there points and three goals. A brace in quick succession from Wasiu Alalade 30′, 38′ and a 73rd minute goal from Abdulraheem Shola was enough to take the home side away from relegation zone with a game to spare.

Bendel Insurance 3:0 Bayelsa United

The Benin arsenals bounced back with a victory after a humiliating defeat to Ikorodu City on match day six. After being criticized for their lack of goal scoring, the Benin based side responded with a three nil victory in front of their home fans. Goals from Kayode One 17, Nnamdi Anthony 78′ and Michael Anaruna in added time was enough to give the home side maximum points.

Heartland 1:1 Ikorodu City

Ten men Ikorodu City, got a point away from home after recording their first victory of the season on match day six. The home side had to come from behind to share the spoils after Salau Yusuf put the away side in front four minutes into the game.

Plateau United 3:1 Remo Stars

In what looked like a difficult fixture for the home side, brace from Franklin Ebuka 4′, 71 and Sadiq Abubakar 65′ ensured that the peace boys bag maximum points. The results means Remo Stars drop to second place on the log.

Rivers United 2:0 3SC

Finidi George side, Rivers United goes top of the table with 17points after defeating 10 men 3SC. The goals came in the second half from Aniekeme Okon 51′ and Ndifreke Effiong 65′, after 3SC goalkeeper, Mustapha Lawal denied Rivers United from the spot in the first half. He saved the spot kick twice after the referee ordered it to be retaken.

Katsina United 1:0 Akwa United

Azeez Falolu’s 27th minute strike was all that was needed to give the home side maximum points. The result drops the away side into relegation zone with five points.
