Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, on Saturday evening defeated Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin City by a lone goal at the Lakan Salami stadium, Adamasigba, in a Matchday 23 fixture of the 2024/2025 NPFL season.
The game saw the Edo outfit go toe to toe against their hosts in a first half that witnessed good but barren play.
The Oluyole Warriors resumed from the halftime break becoming more daring, showing every intent of grabbing maximum points at home after creating chances which the Bendel Insurance defence line was able to largely deal with.
The home side finally got the winner nine minutes from time when second-half substitute Godwin Odibo scored for the hosts.
This result leaves Shooting Stars second on the current NPFL standings, 8 points behind fellow South West rivals, Remo Stars, though with a game outstanding.
On the other hand, Bendel Insurance remains 15th on the log with 25 points after 22 games and will play Nigeria Tornadoes next week on Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
