NWFL Match Preview: Edo Queens v FC Robo

Edo Queens will begin their campaign of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership against the Lagos Landladies, FC Robo Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium by 6pm.

The clash promises to be enthralling as both sides, coached by Moses Adukwu and Emmanuel Osahon will want to start the season on a winning note.

The last time both sides met in a competitive game was in March 2023, with Edo Queens producing a masterclass performance that resulted in a 2-0 win for the Benin based team at the 12,000 seater Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Fajobi Yetunde brilliantly converted for Edo Queens after beautiful passes from Edo Queens, threw the defence line of FC Robo into disarray. With an improved performance in the second half, Emmanuel Osahon’s side still found it difficult to break Edo Queens defence but, Suliat Abideen sealed the victory for Edo Queens increasing the lead to two at with 27 minutes of regulation time left.

Edo Queens go into this encounter confident of a victory. The Benin based team have been fantastic in the pre-season tournaments they played. Going unbeaten and eventually winning the Sheroes Cup in style and the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament with grit.

FC Robo on the other hand, were surprisingly knocked out of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament by newly formed Remo Stars Ladies in the quarter finals. Ogbuchie Chidima netted the only goal for FC Robo in an encounter they lost 3-1. With that shocking result, FC Robo will hope to overturn the disappointment faced in the pre-season.

This clash promises end to end action as both sides will have a lot to battle for later today by 6pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
