Last day drama saw, Abia Angels escape while Royal Queens joined relegated Sunshine Queens on the last match day of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Abia Angels were placed seventh on the Group A table with 14 points before their last game of the season. They were a point above Royal Queens who were eighth on the log.

Both teams played their last game of the season simultaneously on Thursday, April 25 to decide who stays in the Nigeria Women Football League.

Abia Angels was hosted by Naija Ratels in Abuja. The match ended 3-0 in favour of the home side. First-half goals from Agama Ziperekefeghe 6′, Unamba Augustina 44′, and Grace Saliu 45 ensured that Naija Ratels stayed in the Nigeria Women’s Football League for the third consecutive time.

The defeat meant that Abia Angels remained in seventh position with 14 points and a Royal Queens win will seal relegation for the Abia-based side.

Royal Queens on the other hand failed to capitalize on the opportunity to retain their topflight status. All they needed was to win but they were unable to put a goal past Adamawa Queens.

The game which ended goalless at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, means that Royal Queens joins Sunshine Queens who got relegated to Group B of the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
