OFFICIAL: Rivers United announces Finidi George as new head Coach

Rivers United FC have announced ex-Super Eagles and Enyimba international FC coach, Finidi George as new head coach on Wednesday, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

In a statement officially made via the Facebook page of the former NPFL Champions, they announced the appointment of the former Super Eagles manager who resigned less than a month ago.

“Rivers United Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Finidi George as our new Technical Manager.

over fifteen years. His impressive credentials include winning the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in 1994, the UEFA Champions League with Ajax in 1995, and the Nigeria Premier Football League with Enyimba International FC in 2023.”

The club believes Finidi George the right mentality and have demonstrated the ability to lead the  team to success. They also stated their confidence that the Coach would bring his expertise and passion to the club.

In an acceptance speech, Finidi George expressed his gratitude to the club, stating how happy and honoured he his with joining the Port Harcourt based club.

“I am honored to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win.”

Coach Finidi George will be officially inveiled to fans and supporters on Thursday, 4th July 2024 by 4pm at the  Sharks Stadium.
