Shavik FC secured a dramatic victory over Dynamic Stars on Sunday May 26, at the ongoing Bright Osayi U13 Football Tournament, winning 5-4 on penalties after a tense 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Shavik FC took an early lead in the 7th minute through a powerful strike from Divine Ufuah. Dynamic Stars responded with determination, as Emmanuel Jeffery brought his side level in the 21st minute. Jeffery was once again on target in the 65th minute, completing the comeback and putting Dynamic Stars ahead.
However, Shavik FC were handed a lifeline in the dying moments of the game when a handball in the box led to a penalty. Israel Dike stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to send the match into a penalty shootout.
Shavik’s tactical decision to bring on goalkeeper Emmanuel Odoghene specifically for the shootout paid off, as he made a crucial save to help his team triumph 5-4 in the shootout.
