The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Edo State Chapter, on Friday, October 24, 2025, held a special Jumat Thanksgiving Prayer at the Benin Central Mosque as part of the activities marking the National Association’s 60th Anniversary celebration, platinumnewsng.com is reporting
The prayer session, led by the state chairman, Comrade Kehinde Osagiede, witnessed an encouraging turnout of members.

The Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, Sheikh Abdul-Fatah Enabulele, warmly received the Edo SWAN delegation and offered prayers for the National President, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin, and his executives. He also prayed for the continued progress of the Association and for the safety of all sports journalists in their professional engagements.
Speaking after the prayer, Comrade Osagiede expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness over the years and commended members for their dedication to the growth of the Association.
He urged sports writers to uphold professionalism and unity, using sports reportage as a tool to bridge regional and religious divides.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the chapter, Comrade Moses Idahosa, thanked God for the grace to witness the Diamond Jubilee celebration. He encouraged members to maintain a positive work ethic and remain committed to the ideals of the Association.
Meanwhile, the Edo SWAN chapter in line with the National directives, will continue with a Sunday Thanksgiving Service on October 26, 2025, at The Open Heaven Ministries Int Inc. (City of Gladness), 40 Ikuvbogie Street, off Pattifins (Ojo) Street, by Luciano, before Ugbighoko Market, Benin City.

The service will commence at 10:00 AM, and members are urged to attend as part of the state’s commemoration of the national Diamond Jubilee celebration.
