All is set for the Esama of Benin Veteran Cup Finals in Benin as four clubs jostle for prizes.
The tournament organized by the Edo Football Association will see the final feature Crescent Sports Club against Uwa All-Stars for the championship.
The final curtain-raiser match is scheduled for Edo SWAN and Ex-Bendel Insurances players.
Crescent Sports Club advanced to the semi-final and runners up in their group, behind Edo All-Stars, with 6 points. The team beat UBTH Staff via shoutouts to get to the final and will take on Uwa All who defeated Edo All Stars in like fashion.
Uwa All Stars also qualified as a second-placed team in group B with 4 points in three games to book a place in the semi-finals.
The University of Benin Teaching Hospital Staff Team secured third place finish in the inaugural Veterans Cup after a gripping contest against Edo All-Stars.
The match ended goalless after regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout where UBTH emerged victorious with a 5-3 win.
Captained by Dr. Scott Omorogbe, UBTH Staff Team was filled with pride for the team’s achievement, celebrating their performance in the competitive tournament. UBTH qualified for third place after losing 2-3 on penalty to Crescent Sports Club in the semi-final following a scoreless draw.
Meanwhile, Edo All Stars’ Richard Asegua, named player of the match, acknowledged the quality of the competition and the opportunity to participate. Edo All-Stars could not advance to the final after a 4-5 penalty loss to Uwa All-Stars. Both teams played a 2-2 draw at regulation time.
