…as all four semi-finalists receive sets of jerseys
The stage is now set for the Grand Finale of the maiden edition of the Imole Gold Cup. The final will see Golden Stars FC of Egor LGA take on Dynamic Stars FC of Oredo LGA in a Titanic clash that will deliver the Champion of the tournament’s inaugural edition.
Golden Stars, who many see as favourites to win the trophy, will be playing in the finals after defeating Santos FC 3-1 in the semifinals and also previously defeating Delight FC 3-0 in the Quarterfinal.
The Coach Osaro boys, as they’re fondly called, were on bye in the first round before defeating hard-fighting Paulson FC 3-1 in the round of 16.
For Dynamic FC, their path to the finals was full of suspense, action, drama and thrills. They started their campaign by defeating MFM FC 2-0 in the first round and defeated Powerhouse FC via kicks from the penalty mark after a goalless 90 minutes in the round of 16. Again, they got through the tough quarter-finals through kicks from the penalty mark after a 2-2 game. In the semifinals, they were again on the spot to kick penalties after the regulation time ended 2-2 against Namo Sports.
Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday afternoon (Today), Namo Sports FC defeated Santos FC, the boys from Ugbiohoko, 4-2 to be crowned third-place final winners.
Notably, before the kickoff of the third-place final match, the tournament organizers presented new sets of quality football jerseys to the four semi-finals, as provided by the tournament sponsor, Christian Imole.
