Arrangements are in top gear for the fourth edition of the Michael and Felicia Alabi Memorial National Table Tennis Championship, billed to be held in Osun State, Otan Ayegbaju, from April 22nd to April 26th.

The Memorial Table Tennis Championship has been recently upgraded by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) as a national ranking event.

Speaking ahead of the prestigious Table Tennis Championship, the Sponsor and Chairman of the Osun State Table Tennis Association, Mr. Ayo Alabi noted that they are thrilled to host yet another edition as he stays committed to contributing to the growth of Nigeria table tennis and also providing opportunities for the country’s talents through the tournament.

“We have concluded all arrangements as regards transportation and accommodation of all athletes and officials who are coming for the event. Hotels have been booked while buses will be provided to convey athletes and officials from their camps to the venue on a daily basis,” he said.

“We have also secured services of security agencies to ensure orderliness and provide adequate security for all visitors and guests. I want to assure you that the competition will be the best ever organized than the previous editions,” Alabi noted.

“The last edition saw over 400 participants, which clearly shows the growing stature of the tournament. I wish the players the very best and hope they will take full advantage of this opportunity to showcase their talents.”

For the first time in the history of the annual Micheal & Felicia Alabi Memorial National Championship, over 28 states beat the registration deadline for the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF)-a sanctioned national ranking event taking place in Osun State from April 22 to 26.

From the list of entries received by NTTF, 53 men and 38 women will compete in the senior singles event while over 34 players will jostle for honours in the U-15 singles event as the para and veteran events also received large entries for this year.

The yearly championships are organised by the Osun State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA), headed by Mr. Ayo Alabi, with technical support from NTTF and sponsored by the Micheal & Felicia Alabi Memorial Foundation as well as Canada-based Jodal Healthcare.
