36 Lion Football Club on Thursday, December 18, lit up the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium with a vibrant football fiesta, as players drawn from its various academies across the five divisions of Lagos State took centre stage in a celebration of grassroots football development.
The event attracted former footballers, stakeholders, and fans, making it a thrilling evening filled with raw talent from the eager young players.
Known as one of the largest football factories, 36 Lion FC has made history by being the only Nigerian team to produce three players—Imoh Ezekiel, Sodiq Popoola, and Junior Ajayi—for the Dream Team at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Akinsola Akinrele Francis, the team’s Technical Director, mentioned that this 25th edition of the event helps expand the talent pool of this leading grassroots team, as they remain dedicated to nurturing fresh, gifted, and exciting players for Nigeria’s national teams and the global football scene.
