Elijah Okafor has emerged as Shavik FC’s Most Valuable Player of the Year (Senior team), bagging four other awards at the Shavik FC 2024 award ceremony.
The award ceremony, which doubled as the end of the party for the grassroots team, took place at the Benin Technical College, witnessing top football administrators in Benin City attending the event.
Yusuf Adeniran was awarded Player’s Player of the Year, Under 17 Most Valuable Player of the Year (sponsored by Dagashotz) and most versatile player of the Year. Eze Chimobi was awarded the Most Consistent Player of the Year and the Best Defender of the Year. Anthony Ejechi, an under-13 player of the team, won the award for the most outstanding student of the year (junior) and the most Valuable under-13 player of the year.
Elijah Okafor won the award for the most dedicated player of the year, best leader of the year, most improved player of the year, best Midfielder of the year and Most Valuable Player of the Year senior team (sponsored by Edo SWAN).
Destiny Omwanghe, a young Goalkeeper, was awarded the most valuable player of the year under the 16 category Sponsored by OS Media.
Victor Eichie, Evans Odumamwen and Theophilus Osaigbovo won the Best Attacker of the Year, Best Goalkeeper of the Year and BST Goal of the Year, respectively. Osazee Omwanghe was awarded the Most Punctual Player of the Year, while Light Isioma was named Most Outstanding Student of the Year (Senior category).
Present at the Awards night were Edo State Football Association Vice Chairman, Mr Paul Ojeisekhoba, Head of Sports, Rhythm FM Benin, Mansa Ayoola Adeleke, Edo Sports Writers Association of Nigeria chairman, Mr Kehinde Osagiede amongst others.
