Ifako Ijaiye beat Amuwo as Dada Olumuyiwa donates token to team

Two goals from Oyeyemi Samson and Francis Isimeme were enough to help Ifako Ijaiye local government area triumph over Amuwo Odofin in the quarter-final match of the Lagos State Labour Party “Youth Awake” football tournament.

The match, which took place at the African Church Primary School, Ifako Ijaiye football pitch on Saturday, February 22nd, saw party faithful and local government residents trooped out in their hundreds to cheer the two teams, especially Ifako Ijaiye local government area — the home team.

The game saw the sides contend against each other from the blast of the whistle and it was Ifako Ijaiye who had their efforts yield positive after Oyeyemi Samson connected well with a beautiful cross from his midfield — he wasted no time in burying the ball past beyond the away team goalkeeper.

The second goal came similarly, but Francis Isimeme applied more techniques to beat off two marking defenders to lift his team over their lousy opponents.

The team has now advanced into the next round of the competition and is waiting on who will be their opponents in the semi-final stage.

Ifako Ijaiye Ward D Labour Party councilorship candidate for the forthcoming Ifako Ijaiye local government election, Hon. Dada Olumuyiwa Ola, after the game, presented a token to the team to appreciate their effort in advancing to the next round.

Empire, as he fondly called it, registered his excitement over the team’s performance and demanded more from them.

“Thank you for making Ifako Ijaiye proud. Everyone is proud of your success, and we want you to do better in the next round.”

“We want to see the trophy in our local government and do a trophy parade across the LGA, to appreciate the teaming fans for their support for the team”
