Shavik FC have started their participation in the 2025 edition of the Bright Osayi under-13 football tournament with a resounding 5 0 victory over United FC in the preliminary round.

The game, which was played at the popular Uwa Primary school field along the first East circular in Benin City, saw Shavik FC young cubs score two early goals to mark a strong start to the game, with Israel Dike and Chinedu Aluge scoring in the 4th and 7th minute respectively.
Five minutes later, Christian Inegbenije fired straight into the back of the net from a free kick, over 30 yards out from goal, leading Shavik FC to a 3 0 lead with the first 13 minutes of play.
It was after the break second half substitute, Samuel Edet, beat the United FC goalkeeper 10 minutes into the half with a low finish from a loose pass assisted by Israel Dike, the Shavik FC skipper.
Israel Dike later delivered a lovely corner kick which located Divine Ufuah directly as the forward lashed straight to beat the helpless goalkeeper.

At full-time, Israel Dike was named man of the match after his heroics, scoring once and providing 3 assists.

In his post-match interview, the head coach of the side, Sharon Ekhiwere, hailed his team’s performance and effort to have secured a convincing win. He also praised the experience gained from the first edition as one of the reasons behind his team’s performance, hoping that his side will win their next game.
