Lagos Thrills as Azeez and Glanton Dominate in Historic Boxing Night

Dan Azeez was a delight to watch as the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos came alive as boxing fans, stakeholders, and global stars converged for the thrilling “Chaos in the Ring” fight night. This international-standard event reinforced Nigeria’s status as a rising force in global sports entertainment.

The headline bout featured a fierce Cruiserweight showdown between American fighter Brandon Glanton and 2012 Olympian Marcus Browne. Spectators were treated to a display of grit and raw power, with Glanton sealing a sensational sixth-round knockout victory in one of the night’s most gripping contests.

Another highlight saw Nigerian-born British boxer and former Commonwealth and European champion, Dan Azeez, make an emotional homecoming. Competing in Nigeria for the very first time, Azeez electrified the crowd as he overpowered Sulaimon Adeosun, securing a fourth-round TKO triumph.

Speaking after the bouts, Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, lauded the event’s success:

“This represents the excellence Nigeria stands for. With participants and spectators from across continents, tonight proves that we are far more than just a football nation. Already this year, we have hosted world-class events in athletics, karate, arm wrestling, and more, and the results have been outstanding.”

The fight night was staged by Amir Khan’s AK Promotions in collaboration with Balmoral Group Promotions, and powered by official sponsor Bet9ja. The seamless production met international standards, elevating Nigeria’s profile as a host of elite sporting spectacles.

The glamorous occasion attracted distinguished guests including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Minister of State for Finance Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, Lagos State Sports Commission DG Lekan Fatodun, Presidential aide on Grassroots Sports Chief Adeboyega Adeyinka Anthony, veteran journalist Chief Dele Momodu, and football icon Victor Ikpeba.

Adding star power, music superstars Naira Marley, D’banj, and other top acts lit up the night with exhilarating performances, blending top-tier boxing with unforgettable entertainment.
