In a heartwarming gesture of gratitude and commitment to grassroots football development, MAS Fès defender, Benjamin Tanimu, has donated sets of jerseys to his boyhood club, Delight Football Academy of Benin.

The jerseys, beautifully designed in blue with touches of black, were officially presented to the academy’s head coach Aiwaguore Wilson Joseph, on behalf of the team. The donation adds to the academy’s growing collection and is expected to boost the morale of the young players while giving the club a good image during competitions.
Speaking on the reason behind the donation, the Super Eagles defender said giving back to the academy that shaped his early football journey was both a responsibility and a privilege.
“Delight Football Academy is where my dream began. This is where I was taught discipline, resilience, and the basics of the game. I may have moved on professionally, but I can never move on from my roots,” Benjamin wrote on his official X and Facebook pages.
“These jerseys are just a small token to appreciate the coaches and young players who remind me of myself a few years ago. I want them to believe that with hard work, focus, and God’s grace, they can reach any level.”

The Nigerian defender further hinted that the jersey donation is only one of many of his supports the academy would experience.
“This is not the end. I am already looking at ways to support them further — from training equipment to mentorship sessions and possibly organising scouting opportunities in the future. Grassroots football needs consistent support, and I am committed to being part of that growth.”
Receiving the jerseys on behalf of the academy, the Head Coach of Delight Football Academy registered deep appreciation for Tanimu’s thoughtful gesture.
“We are extremely proud of Benjamin. Beyond being a talented player, he has shown character and gratitude,” the coach said.

“These jerseys will inspire our boys greatly. When they wear them, they will remember that one of their own made it to the professional level and still came back to lift others. That motivation is priceless.”
The coach also described Tanimu as a role model whose journey continues to inspire the young talents at the academy.
Benjamin Tanimu’s generosity stands as a good example of how professional athletes can positively impact grassroots football, ensuring that the next generation of players are equipped and encouraged to pursue their dreams.
