Just as success on the court requires resilience, teamwork, and strategic execution, building a prosperous nation demands our collective effort. As we reflect on the 66th anniversary of our independence, celebrated this Thursday, it is my distinct honour to address you as both a proud patriot and the Chairman of the Board of NNPC Limited—the driving engine of our national economy.
The green-white-green that flew proudly across our nation served as a powerful reminder of Nigeria’s promise: a promise of self-determination, national prosperity, and a future built by Nigerian hands for the benefit of all Nigerians. At NNPC Limited, we are working daily to fulfil that promise.
A Year of Unprecedented Performance :
The 2025 financial year marked a historic turning point for our company. Under the astute leadership of our Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari, alongside the Executives and the Board, NNPC Limited has evolved into a true pillar of Nigeria’s fiscal stability. Our numbers reflect a company delivering on its mandate:
Profit After Tax (PAT): N7.2 trillion (a massive N1.8 trillion increase from N5.4 trillion in the preceding year).
Total Revenue: N34.5 trillion, demonstrating the profound resilience of our operations and the effectiveness of our strategic direction.
Government Remittances: N22.3 trillion (a N6.3 trillion increase from the previous year’s N16.0 trillion). This includes taxes, royalties, and statutory payments that directly fund critical national infrastructure and social programs.
The Boards overseeing our Upstream, Downstream, and Gas, Power, and New Energy portfolios have been instrumental to this record performance. Our operational metrics reflect a company operating at peak efficiency:
Crude Oil Production: Peaked at 1.77 million barrels per day (mbpd), a five-year high that underscores the success of our production optimisation efforts.
Natural Gas Supply: Reached 7.2 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscf/d), a three-year high positioning Nigeria to comfortably meet domestic gas obligations while fulfilling its potential as a global supplier.
Pipeline Security & Delivery: Pipeline availability on major export routes has improved substantially. Where some facilities previously operated at less than 10% of producer output, we now record reconciliation factors of approximately 90% between crude produced and volumes delivered at terminals. This transformation was achieved through community-based surveillance, strategic interventions, and highly coordinated security operations.
NNPC Limited has consistently sustained crude oil supply to local refineries under an innovative dual-currency arrangement that balances national interest with commercial prudence. This vital partnership is actively helping to stabilise Nigeria’s fuel supply and dramatically reduce our historical dependence on imported refined products. We remain firmly committed to ensuring that Nigerian crude serves Nigerian refineries, thereby creating jobs and retaining value within our borders.
Every barrel of crude produced, every cubic foot of gas supplied, every naira remitted to government coffers, and every Nigerian employed in our operations represents a deliberate step toward the energy-secure, prosperous nation our founding fathers envisioned.
As we step into a new year of nationhood, I commend the management and staff of NNPC Limited for their relentless dedication and excellence. I also reaffirm the Board’s unwavering commitment to steering this company toward even greater heights in service of our beloved nation.
God bless NNPC Limited, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
