In continuation of their preparation for the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League, newly promoted Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Tuesday arrived in Ilorin for a close camping
The team arrived in the Kwara State capital at 7:00 AM and moved into their hotel to settle down ahead of intensive training days in the caliphate city.
Bendel Insurance while in Ilorin will play NPFL side, Kwara United FC and two other clubs to further fine-tune their readiness for the season which is expected to kick off soon as all stakeholders await the announcement of the resumption date by the NPFL’s Interim Management Committee (IMC).
The Monday Odigie-led side before their Ilorin and southwest training tour was involved in a friendly match against a selected side sponsored by Santos FC of Brazil at the Ogbemudia Stadium on Sunday. Benin Arsenal won the match 2-1.
The Benin Arsenal’s tour of Ilorin and Southwest is designed to effect a blend of their newly signed players with their retained old players who helped the team in gaining promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL). Meanwhile, some of the newly signed players have been impressive in training and the few friendly matches they have so far played.
Insurance FC was impressive in the southern conference group B1 of the NNL where they finished winners, thus snatching the promotion ticket with 49 points against second-placed Gateway Utd who finished the campaign with 40 points.
The Benin Arsenal, no doubt are working hard to maintain a position in the Nigeria premier league by working hard to avoid 2019 sad experience of an immediate return to relegation despite their impressive performances during that season
