Calls on DSS to prosecute alleged promoters of interim government

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, Tuesday played host to the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, South-South Zone, even as the youth body ‘begged’ the Deputy Governor to take a shot at the governorship seat in 2024.

The youths were at the Government House, Benin City, to express appreciation for the conducive atmosphere and support provided by the government for their zonal meeting in Benin.

In his remarks, Shaibu noted that he had a track record of active youth involvement struggle over the years, dating back to his days as a students’ union activist.

“I was instrumental in the drafting of the first-ever national youth policy. I was also opportune to review the first policy document. When I was elected into the National Assembly, l championed the legislative discourse on the ‘Not Too Young to Run Bill”.

On the state-of-the-nation, Shaibu berated the Department of State Security, DSS, for heating the polity by raising false alarms over the allegation of an interim government. Hear him:

“If they know they are not lying, I give the DSS three days to arrest and parade the so-called suspects involved, since they claimed to have the official information. Otherwise, I see it as nothing but a deliberate attempt on their part to divert attention from the real issue of stolen mandate”.

The Edo number two citizen, however, appealed to the youths to remain steadfast in their collective quest to reclaim Nigeria from old and recycled politicians, who don’t mean well for the country.

“The call to recover the peoples’ mandate and our country, Nigeria is for the good of Nigerians and our unborn children. We need to struggle and bequeath a nation that’s full of prosperity; a nation that God has endowed with, not just natural resources, but with human capacity. We must not lose hope in our country Nigeria”.

“This is a strong warning to them; if they attempt to use armoured tanks in any future election to seize ballot boxes and intimidate polling agents, we will face them with equal measure.”

“Enough is enough. Nigeria is our country and it does not belong to a few political classes”.

“You must continue to preach the gospel of recovering our country. But this must not be done by violence”, Shaibu added.

The NYCN, led by its National President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo pledged to purchase the governorship form for the Deputy Governor while pleading with him to run on the platform of any political party of his choice.
