…in celebration of Medinat’s elevation to higher position
Edo State Deputy Governor and spouse, Maryann, weekend hosted Mrs.Medinat Omo-Aghedo, to a reception dinner in celebration of her recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Director by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The reception which held at the conference hall of the prestigious Protea Hotel, Benin City, saw guests, family members, friends and colleagues of the celebrant were lavishly treated to sumptuous meals, and drinks, spiced up with musical entertainment, magical acts and jokes.
In her remarks at the colourful event, the wife of Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Mrs. Maryann Philip-Shaibu, who was visibly elated said: “I’m delighted in a very special way. We are here to celebrate this evening because the good book admonishes us to celebrate with those that are celebrating”.
” We are so pleased to be associated with you. May your days be blessed; you will enjoy your promotion”.
Mrs. Shaibu recounted with excitement her one-year NYSC program in Abuja and how she wished to be an employee of the apex bank.
In his remarks, the husband of the celebrant, Dr. Larry Aghedo, who is also a banker and former Commissioner for Planning, Finance and Economic Development, Edo State, noted that the promotion examination that elevated his wife to the position of Assistant Director at CBN “was highly competitive”.
He added that they had to embark on vigil weeks before the examination while revealing that a night before the examination day, three pastors came to their house to lead them in vigil.
“We look up to God and believe in Him all our lives. Not on man or any power because the Bible says to watch and pray. When I told my friend, the Deputy Governor about the examination, he gave us all the encouragement, promising to host her if she scaled through the hurdle”.
“Here we are today, celebrating her and giving thanks to God. Hence, we call it Thanksgiving reception dinner”, Dr. Larry Aghedo added.
In her speech, the celebrant, Mrs. Medinat Omo-Aghedo, who was joyous all through the celebration, appreciated the guests, especially the Edo State second family, her husband, family members, friends and colleagues for the honour done to her.
Mrs Aghedo prayed to God Almighty to honour them in return.
The occasion attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including some members of the Edo State Executive Council.
Highpoint of the glamorous occasion was a photo session and presentation of souvenirs to the celebrant by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Comrade Mrs Maryann Philip-Shaibu.
The second leg of the reception later shifted to the palatial residence of the Deputy Governor on Aideyan Street, GRA, Benin City.
Indeed, it was a night to be remembered by the celebrant and guests, as it was an evening of fun and merriment.
