Aimed at elevating the calibre of talent development in Nigerian football, the Abia State National League (NNL) Side, Abia Comets Football Club, has appointed the accomplished Engr. Kelechi Orji Nnorom as their Sporting Director.
The appointment, with immediate effect, comes as a result of his extraordinary achievements in talent identification and nurturing young football prodigies to reach their full potential.
At the age of 35, Engr. Kelechi Orji Nnorom brings a wealth of experience and success to his new role as the Sporting Director. His remarkable journey in sports administration has been marked by the discovery of over 40 young Nigerian talents, hailing from the streets of Abia and various other parts of the country. From grassroots football to the professional stage, his prodigies have successfully represented the national team at the Under-17, Under-20, and Under-233 levels, making significant contributions to Nigerian football.
Having embarked on a study tour to numerous football clubs in the United Kingdom as part of the Nationwide League (NLO) delegates in 2020, Engr. Kelechi Orji Nnorom has gained valuable insights into international best practices in youth development. His passion for nurturing and honing young talents has earned him a reputation as a visionary leader in the realm of sports.
Engr. Nnorom’s credentials extend far beyond Nigerian borders. An alumnus of several prestigious sports programs and courses both within and outside Nigeria, he has forged strong relationships with reputable sports organizations across the globe. His affiliations with the Elite Project Group in the United Kingdom, IFM-M Czech Republic, H.O.L.M Football in Romania, CAS Sporting, MTA Group Italy, Universal Trade Croatia, and AK10 Slovenia among others, stand as a testament to his international acclaim.
Holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Michael Okpara University Umudike, Engr. Kelechi Orji Nnorom combines his technical expertise with his profound understanding of the intricacies of the sports industry.
The Chairman of Abia Comets Football Club, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, expressed great enthusiasm for the appointment, stating that Engr.
