Nigeria’s contingents in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League, Remo Stars of Ikenne and Enyimba International FC of Aba on Thursday got their opponent for the preliminary rounds of the playoffs.
In a draw conducted at the CAF headquarters in Cairo Egypt on Tuesday morning, Remo Stars will face Medeama of Ghana in the first round of the preliminary round. With the first leg build to be played in Ghana.
Enyimba FC on the other hand faces a tough test in Al Ahly Benghazi of Libya. The first leg will be played in Libya, while the second leg will be played in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football, CAF also clarified the path for the group stage of this season’s competition by making a draw for the possible teams that will face off in the second round of the playoffs.
While the winner between Medeama and Remo Stars will play seeded Horoya FC of Guinea, the winner in the game between Al Ahly and Enyimba will face off against the winner in the game between Coton Sports FC of Cameroon against Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast.
The preliminary rounds for the Champions League will be played from the 18th of August to the 30th of September 2023 while the competition proper will be from the 24th of November to the 26th of May 2024.
Winners of first and second preliminary round matches will automatically go through to the group stage of the competition.
