The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is all set to kick off the 2023/24 season on the 26th of August. The management of the league, along with the Club Owners Association, has confirmed their 100 percent readiness for the upcoming football extravaganza.
Chairman of the NPL, Mr. Gbenga Elegbeleye, expressed his delight at the unanimous agreement among all parties involved.
“They have all agreed with the date and are going back to start preparations for the new season. They are all 100 per cent ready,” Elegbeleye explained.
Dr. Okey Kpalukwu, General Manager of Rivers United and the chairman of NPL Club Owners, also spoke about the club’s enthusiasm for the forthcoming season. He revealed that the clubs are fully prepared for the 38-match season and will not follow the abridged format used in the previous season. The League Board and Managers have been tasked with ensuring the smooth progression of the league as planned.
In a show of preparedness, Rivers United and several other clubs have already unveiled their squads for the upcoming season. The players are raring to go, and the teams have been actively engaging in pre-season friendlies to fine-tune their strategies and test their mettle against strong opponents.
With the league scheduled to run its full course, fans can expect an exciting and competitive season. Dr. Kpalukwu emphasized that every team is primed for action and has been actively participating in pre-season tourneys across the country to put their squads in optimal shape for the task ahead.
