Osimhen keen on Napoli is a good prospect for Nigeria — Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has expressed his thoughts on Victor Osimhen’s decision to opt not to leave Napoli for elsewhere during this recently-concluded summer’s transfer window.

The 24-year-old talisman who contributed immensely to Napoli’s Scudetto success last campaign recorded a tally of 26 goals and 4 assists in 32 Serie A appearances, was heavily reported to have declined to Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal’s two mouth-watering offers away from the Partenopei.

Peseiro was delighted to the news that the 2023 African Men’s Player of the Year, the Men’s Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Men’s awards nominee resolved to stay at Napoli.

“At first he thought about leaving, but then he decided to stay and do his best in Napoli. And I’m happy to see him still competing for big goals in Europe.

“But, Victor is very happy in Napoli. For his growth path, staying in Europe and showing off in the Champions League remains the best way. He is young and has time to prove his talent.

“Then I understand that in the face of certain offers, one can waver: two seasons in Arabia are worth more than ten in Europe, but money is not everything. Victor has improved a lot in Italy,” Peseiro told Gazzetta dello Sport.
