…says beauty pageantry is a tool for empowerment

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu, has said beauty pageantry plays a significant role in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a tool for promoting youth empowerment.

The Deputy Governor stated this in Benin City when he received organizers and the 10 finalists of the 2023 Miss ITV Beauty Pageant. Shaibu underscored the need for beauty contestants to engage themselves in productive ventures that would project their image as role models in society.

The Edo State number two citizen asserted that the pet project of eradicating water-borne diseases to be undertaken by first prize winner, Miss Stephanie Okunze, was crucial in mitigating the health challenges of the people, due to intake of impure and polluted water.

He pledged his total support for the actualization of the pet project objective.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Sunny Duke Okosun, commended the Deputy Governor for his support. He stated that the organizers of the beauty pageant decided to visit the Deputy Governor and formally present to him the winners of the pageant in the various categories.

The overall winner, Stephanie Okunze, while moving the vote of thanks on behalf of her other contestants, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his support.

She said the Deputy Governor is a man of honour and integrity for being faithful to his promise while wishing him success in his political aspiration.

Highlights of the visit were the symbolic presentation of cash prizes to the winners of the beauty pageant by the Deputy Governor and a photo session with organizers and the beauty queens.
