AFCON 2023: Akon to Host Final Draw in Ivory Coast



Senegalese singer, songwriter, and producer Aliaune Thiam, popularly known as Akon, has been chosen to host the final draw for the Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

This event is scheduled for Thursday and will be held at the stunning Parc Des Expositions venue in Abidjan.

According to CAF, Akon’s role as host, alongside African football legend Touré, is set to bring an extra dose of star power to the event. This glamorous occasion will witness the 24 qualified nations as they discover their group stage opponents.

The final draw will be broadcast in over 50 countries, and millions of viewers are expected to tune in via CAF’s Official YouTube channel and CAF’s Global TV partners.

Cote d’Ivoire (hosts), Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo DR, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia have all qualified for the football showpiece.

The 34th edition of this grand event, the largest in Africa, will be held in Cote d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
