The organisers of the Benin City Youth league have announced June 26th as the official kickoff date for the 2024 season of the grassroot competition, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The board members of the league in its General Meeting, chaired by Douglas Idahosa, held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Arinze Primary School, Benin City, convened to finalize details regarding the upcoming season, including the registration process for grassroots clubs vying to participate in the 4th season.

With a registration fee set at 300,000 naira, clubs have already begun the registration process, which will continue until the deadline on May 31st. Issues on financial stability, commitment to the league’s success, and discipline among participating teams were extensively discussed amongst those present at the meeting.

Dynamo Academica went invincible in 2023 to win the tournament, amassing a total of 28 points, one point ahead of the second-placed team, Ine Stars FC.

Coached by Harrison Okaka, the team scored a total of 23 league goals and conceded five goals during the season. They won eight matches and drew five games.
