Head Coach Justine Madugu has unveiled a 25-player Super Falcons squad that will defend Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title at the 14th edition of the tournament scheduled to hold in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, 2026.
Leading the squad are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Africa’s top-rated goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, experienced defender Osinachi Ohale, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and six-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala.
The list also includes key stars such as Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin, Christy Ucheibe, Halimatu Ayinde, Toni Payne, Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Omorinsola Babajide, while home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko earned a place in the final squad.
Defending champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi. All of the Super Falcons’ group matches will be played in Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital.
The nine-time? No—record 10-time African champions will be chasing an unprecedented 11th continental crown after defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final of the previous edition.
The 2026 tournament will feature 16 teams for the first time, with the four semi-finalists securing automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The fifth-placed team will advance to the intercontinental playoff tournament.
Nigeria remains the only African nation to have featured at every FIFA Women’s World Cup since the competition began in 1991.
