Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority have announced on Friday that Anthony Joshua and MMA fighter, Francis Ngannou have reached an agreement for a heavyweight boxing match in Riyadh, Turki Alalshikh, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
As published by www.espn.com, the fight will take place on the 8th of March 2024.
Joshua had been set to fight Deontay Wilder in a long-awaited clash March 9 in Riyadh before Wilder was upset last month by Joseph Parker. Later that night, Joshua scored a fifth-round TKO of Otto Wallin after fracturing Wallin’s nose.
On his part, Ngannou made his professional boxing debut in shocking fashion when he floored heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in October in Riyadh en route to a split-decision loss.
With Usyk meeting Tyson Fury on the 17th of February in an undisputed heavyweight championship in Riyadh, the winner of Joshua-Ngannou is likely to be well-positioned for a future clash against whoever emerges from Fury-Usyk with the titles.
