Bright Osayi-Samuel U13: Edo Dynamo ambushes Rising Stars in final

The Bright Osayi-Samuel U-13 Football competition climaxes on Thursday, September 5, 2024, as Edo Dynamo Sports Football Club of Edo South takes on Rising Stars Football Club of Edo North for the coveted title and bragging rights in the state.

Edo Dynamos spanked Rockers FC of Benin 4-0 in the semi-final to book a showdown date with Rising Stars FC. The Auchi-based side edged their opponent, Ugbowo Bombers, in a watertight semi-final.

The final match is scheduled for 3 pm at the Crescent Sports Center, Benin City.

Before the final, the two semifinal losers, Ugbowo Bombers, will lay square up against Rockers FC for the game of pride and bronze.

The final day promises to be full of fun and action with a lot to take home by the players who will put their strength in their game to emerge winners of different individual awards.

In the race for the Golden Boot, Ohieari Blessed of Edo Dynamo Sports Club will hope to get a goal in the final to emerge as the winner, the same target Miracle of Rockers FC will set for himself in the loser’s final, leaving Abade Miracle of Edo Young Stars FC in state of uncertainty for the highest goals scorer glory.

Maro Rigbede of Rockers, Praise Megbuluba of Edo Dynamo SC and Godstime Anumodi of Ogbomo are in contention for the Best Defender award — leaving Maro and Praise Megbuluba to play out their lives in their respective last match to earn the glory.

Emmanuel Philip of Camp Elite FA, Destiny Enomena of Rockers FC and Jude Elijah of Rising Stars FC are in contention for the Safest Hands award.

One Ibrahim Yusuf of Ugbowo Bombers FC, Austin Ogieriakhi of Edo Dynamo Sports FC, and Ahmed Tajudeen of Rising Stars FC will see one of them crowned Coach of the Tournament. The race for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player will, however, be tougher than other categories of individual awards.

A lot is in place for who wears this crown at the end of the tournament. Abade Miracle of do Young Stars FC, Ohieari Blessed of Edo Dynamo Sports FC, Miracle of ockers FC, and Maro Rigbede of Rockers FC, all shortlisted for the MVP award, are expected to give the spectators good views on the final day to cart home the trophy.

Meanwhile, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Edo Chapter) will take on the Edo Grassroots Coaches in a novelty match which serves as the curtain raiser for the finale.

The tournament which has seen the discovery of more than expected talents at the grassroots level across the three senatorial districts of the state has earned accolades of football stakeholders for it’s dynamism and professional organization.
