Out of the 44 individual champions from the 2022 World Championship in Oregon, 38 of the athletes including hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan is poised to uphold their titles in Budapest.
Amusan stunned the global stage last year, claiming victory in the Women’s 100m hurdles final and clinching an Olympic Gold.
World Athletics also affirmed that a substantial number, exceeding 2100 athletes from 202 teams, have signified their intent to participate at Hungary’s newly inaugurated National Athletics Centre, set to host the event from August 19 to 27.
Despite being left out of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria’s initial list, Tobiloba Amusan has secured her spot on the World Athletics entry list.
Amusan’s initial absence from the Nigeria list came about due to her suspension by the Athletic Integrity Unit (AIU), stemming from her failure to partake in a doping test on three different occasions.
Her eligibility to compete remains contingent upon the outcome of her appeal. If successful, she stands a chance to defend her hard-earned title.
